Back in the day, you wouldn’t be caught dead cruising the slopes with an ounce of protective gear. How things change; now it’s actually cool to wear a helmet. I never thought I’d see it, but you look at kids with lids now and think, jeez, they must be hardcore freeride nutters. And you’d be right – the most hardcore freestyle nuts out there wear helmets, body armour, padded shorts – you name it, they’re wrapped in it. You see, they’re in it for the duration, the long term. Being old doesn’t mean watching the snooker with your rich teas and slippers any more. Now you can get out there and even if it’s only one run a day, surf powder with a great big smile on your old knackered face.
